Obituary

NORTH JACKSON - David L. Baird, passed away Friday morning, Oct. 22, 2021, at University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna.

David was born Nov. 28, 1952, in Youngstown, and was the son of the late Gerald Baird and Lois Hubbard Baird. He lived in California for a short period of time during his youth, and came back to Youngstown when he was 16.

David was a graduate of Canfield High School and proudly served in the United States Army.

He was a loyal employee to General Extrusions for 44 years.

David was an ordained pastor for over 30 years, and he loved and served the Lord throughout his daily life. In doing so, he was a beloved member of Touch Heaven Ministries in Canfield.

In his free time, David thoroughly enjoyed taking his beautiful wife, Tina, on motorcycle rides on his customized bike that he loved. One of his greatest joys in life was his family, as he loved being a husband, father, and "papa" to his many grandkids. Watching his children's and grandchildren's many sports and activities was one of his main priorities and delight. No matter the weather, he was always there to cheer his family on from the sidelines.

As an avid golfer, David loved to golf with his friends and his son, Matthew. He was also a fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and the Ohio State Buckeyes football team.

His passing leaves his delightful wife of 42 years, Tina Anderson Baird, whom he married Nov. 18, 1978; a daughter, Alissa (Mike) Gancarz of Berlin Center; a son, Matthew Baird (Candy Laurie) of North Jackson; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Bianca, Kayna, Alina, Caleb, Noah, Sayla, Darrick, and Colton; a brother, James (Florence) Baird of Tehachapi, Calif.; three sisters, Luann Renfro, Debra Baird, and Denise O'Connell, all of California; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

His sister, Brenda Baird, preceded David in death.

Family and friends may gather to pay respects on Saturday, Oct. 30, from 11 a.m. to noon at Touch Heaven Ministries, 10 Skyline Dr., Canfield, where funeral services will take place at noon.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.

In lieu of flowers, Dave's family asks that memorial contributions be made to Touch Heaven Ministries in his name.

The Baird family would like to extend a very special thank you to the doctors and nurses at University Hospital Portage Medical Center, especially Dr. Gregory Johnson, for the kindness, compassionate care, and support throughout Dave's hospital stay.
