YOUNGSTOWN — David A. Acierno, 72, of the city’s west side, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
David was born Sept. 16, 1953, in Youngstown, a son of the late Steve and Dorothy Archie Acierno, and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a 1971 graduate of Chaney High School and worked at EASCO Aluminum for many years before choosing a career later on as a bus driver for Community Busing, where he eventually retired.
Dave enjoyed classic cars, fishing, hunting and an occasional round of golf. He especially loved homemade cavatelli and always looked forward to sharing a good cavatelli dinner with family and friends. In more recent years, he found enjoyment in building model cars, but most of all, Dave cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
David is survived by his four children, Michelle (Frank) Gilboy of Amherst, Randy Acierno of Washingtonville, David (Vanessa) Acierno II of Youngstown and Ashley Acierno of McDonald; nine grandchildren, Caitlyn Gilboy, Cameron Gilboy, Taylor Acierno, MacKenzie Acierno (fiancé Isaac), Conner Acierno, Jordan Acierno, Elliot Acierno, Rylee Acierno and Alexis Hvisdak; his sister, Stephanie Grameth of Boardman; his niece, Erin (Jim) Lavin of Girard and; several extended family members.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother in law, Charles Grameth.
Family and friends may gather to pay respects from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard, where a Celebration of Life Service will take place at 2 p.m.
