Obituary
VIENNA - Charles J. Brandenstein, 86, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 20, 2016, at Autumn Hills Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Charles was born June 29, 1929 in Mineral Ridge, a son of the late Joseph and Catherine Saar Brandenstein, and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Brandenstein was a 1947 graduate of Mineral Ridge High School and worked at General Electric's Trumbull Lamp Plant as a fork lift operator for 39 years, retiring in 1989.
After retirement, he was a volunteer for 18 years at Hillside Rehabilitation Center.
Charles leaves a brother, Gerald (Marge) Brandenstein of Girard; three sisters, Edna Miller of Niles, Esther Bogatay of Girard, and Ginny (William) Anderson of Girard; 20 nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Bill Thiry of Cortland;and many extended family members.
A brother, Bob Brandenstein, and a sister, Rose Thiry, are deceased.
Per Mr. Brandenstein's request, there will be no calling hours or services.
Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
