YOUNGSTOWN - Catherine P. "Kay" (Donofrio) Petrella, 84, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Liberty Healthcare Center surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.

Catherine who was affectionately known as Kay, was born August 22, 1940, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Samuel Donofrio and Antonette DiCiocco Donofrio.  A lifelong resident of the area, she graduated from East High School in 1958 and went on to work at the Youngstown Water Department before enjoying several years of service at Walmart in Austintown.

Kay's life was a testament to love, joy, and family. She delighted in the beauty of Fellows Riverside Gardens, cherished holidays surrounded by loved ones, and found great joy in dancing, listening to music, and watching movies. She was a proud and devoted grandmother who never missed an opportunity to cheer on her grandsons at their sporting events.

Kay's world revolved around her daughter, Nicole Pugliese of Austintown, who was her pride and joy. She also leaves behind two beloved grandsons, Frank and Nicholas Pugliese; her brother, Joseph (Catherine) Donofrio of Brigantine, NJ; her sister, Beverly Donofrio; and two dear nephews, Dean (Rebecca) Donofrio and Thomas Neapolitan.

Kay's kindness, warmth, and infectious spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Private family services to honor and celebrate Kay's life will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.

Kay's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff at Liberty Healthcare Center and others who provided compassionate care and support throughout the years.

May her legacy of love and joy live on in the hearts of those she touched.
