NILES – Carol Ann Kolenich, 79, formerly of Hillside Drive in Girard, passed away peacefully, Wednesday morning, Jan. 20, 2016, at Hospice House.

Carol was born Feb. 29, 1936, in Warren, a daughter of the late Francis and Irma Guthiel Romelfangen, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Kolenich was a 1954 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and earned a degree in nursing from the Akron City Hospital School of Nursing in 1957.

She worked as a registered nurse and retired in 1996 from Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Carol enjoyed painting, gardening, and volunteering with Mill Creek Metro Parks Fellows Riverside Gardens.

Her husband, Peter Kolenich, whom she married in 1959, passed away March 12, 2010.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Brian (Susan) Kolenich of Poland and Gary (Lisa) Kolenich of Victor, Idaho; a daughter, Stacy Kolenich of Columbus; three grandchildren, Jenny (Steve) Sticula, Jason Miller, and Jeffrey Miller; two great-grandchildren, Brooke and Ryan Sticula; and two sisters, Mary Lou Liebal of Brecksville and Pat (Jack) Gardner of Howland.

Family and friends may call from noon to 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 30, at Kinnick Funeral Home, McClurkin Memorial Chapel, 222 S. State St., Girard, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Carol's family suggests memorial contributions be made to Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Way, Youngstown, OH 44509.
