AUSTINTOWN - Carol B. Fisher, 81, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, September 7, 2024, at Humility House.
Carol was born May 10, 1943, in Keyser, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Harry and Deema Keller Wertman. She moved to the Youngstown area as a teenager, where she graduated from The Rayen School, Class of 1960. Carol worked at TAMCO for 15 years before joining the BMV West Side Merchants, where she worked for two years before retiring.
A devoted member of the former St. Paul Lutheran Church, Carol was an active participant in the church choir. She also pursued real estate classes at Youngstown State University, enjoyed bowling, and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Tina Renee (Joe) Zitello of North Jackson and Sherry Lynn Budner of Youngstown; her son, James S. (Melissa) Fisher of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Autumn Hixenbaugh and Samuel Zitello; a great granddaughter, Olivia Renee Adams; many friends, including Sandy Bundy and many extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her two sisters, Gay Yvonne Wilt and Diane Horvath, and her brother, Harry Franklin "Bucky" Wertman Jr., who tragically died during the Vietnam War.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a funeral service will take place at 7 p.m.
Interment will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Austintown.
