YOUNGSTOWN - Carl J. DePizzo, 66, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 3, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital from complications of Covid-19.
Carl was born April 9, 1955 in Youngstown,. a son of the late Jack and Mary Knapp DePizzo and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a graduate of East High School and worked in construction with various contractors throughout the area. Carl also worked for General Extrusion, Mahoning County Engineers retiring on disability.
Mr. DePizzo was a former member of Sacred Heart Parish.
Carl could have a conversation with anyone. He loved to make people laugh and was always a jokester. He had a nickname for everyone from "goose" to "princess". He always told his children to never forget the past, live in the present, and enjoy life.
In his younger days, Carl enjoyed playing baseball and was a pitcher for many years with different baseball leagues throughout the valley. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Ohio State Buckeyes and even when they lost, they could never disappoint him. He also enjoyed sled riding, watching football, listening to classic rock and roll songs and sipping on homemade red wine.
Carl loved his family deeply and was very proud of his children and grandchildren, and loved being a Papa.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 41 years, Gladys Rodriguez, whom he married October 4, 1980. A daughter, Natasha DePizzo of Youngstown; a son, Carl A. DePizzo of Boardman; two grandchildren, Elyana and Mason; two brothers Rocky DePizzo and Nick DePizzo both of Cortland, and several nieces, and nephews and extended family members.
Carl will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, two brothers, Michael and Jack DePizzo preceded Carl in death.
Family and friends may gather to pay respects from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a funeral service will take place at 3 p.m.
