Barbara Wrona

AUSTINTOWN — Barbara Wrona, 94, passed away Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Barbara was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Ignatius and Amelia “Ljuba” Pacic Kunovic, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1950 graduate of Chaney High School and worked for Forum Health/Northside Hospital for 44 years, retiring as a food service supervisor in 1996.

Barbara was a longtime member of the former Holy Apostles Parish, Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church, and was also a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union and St. George Lodge No. 66.

Above all, Barbara was devoted to her family. She treasured the time she spent with them, especially her grandchildren, and was always a source of unconditional love and support. Her family was truly the center of her life.

In her younger years, Barbara enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and had especially fond memories of her trip to Hawaii. She also treasured the opportunity to visit Croatia, her parents’ homeland.

Barbara leaves to forever cherish her memory her two sons, Ted Wrona Jr. of Youngstown and Richard Wrona of Austintown; her daughter, Mary Ellen (Jim) Ring of Austintown; two grandchildren, Alec (Allison) Ring of Canfield and Nicholas Ring of Austintown; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Ted (Theodore) Wrona, whom she married Sept. 7, 1957, and who passed away Aug. 15, 2007.

In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Frances “Fran” Piersante and her husband, James; her brother, Anton Kunovic and his wife, Loretta; and her brothers-in-law and their wives, with whom she shared a close and loving relationship.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, at St. Dominic Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown. All are welcome to attend and are asked to meet directly at the church.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Barbara will be laid to rest beside her husband.
