CANFIELD - Barbara E. Komenak, 65, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, Jan. 12, 2017, at Meridian Arms Living Center surrounded by her loving family, following an extended illness.

Barbara was born April 14, 1951, in Rimersburg, Pa., a daughter of the late Paul and Frances Wieble Hepfner, and came to this area as a child with her family.

She was a 1969 graduate of Girard High School, and devoted her adult life to raising and caring for her family. An active worker, Barb was also employed outside the home at Packard Electric, and she sold home interiors and worked with the mentally-challenged in the Austintown Local Schools.

Mrs. Komenak was a member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown, and of the local TOPS organization.

She enjoyed her cats and she loved spending time with her family.

Barbara leaves her husband, John M. Komenak, whom she married May 21, 1977; her daughter, Jaclyn Komenak of Austintown; her son, John Paul Komenak of Austintown; two sisters, Nancy (Kenny) Kester and Cathy (Rick) Maszczak; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service was held Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.

Mrs. Komenak's family thanks the staff of Meridian Arms for the kindness shown and care given to Barb and her family during her stay there.
