STRUTHERS – Annetta Carano, 97, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 29, 2024, in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of her family.
Annetta was born June 14, 1927, in the picturesque town of Introdacqua, Italy, Annetta was the beloved daughter of the late Vincenzo Giammarco and Elda Giammarco. She immigrated to the United States in May 1950, making Youngstown her first home before settling in Struthers in 1965.
Annetta was a dedicated and hardworking woman, contributing to her community in various capacities throughout her life. Her career began in housekeeping at Youngstown Sheet and Tube, followed by a fulfilling tenure at DeBartolo Corporate Headquarters. She also worked closely with the families of Edward J. DeBartolo Sr. and Edward J. DeBartolo Jr., forging bonds that felt like family while lovingly raising her own.
A true homemaker at heart, Annetta's passion for gardening brought forth an abundance of vegetables, particularly her prized tomatoes. She enjoyed crocheting, canning, and cooking, ensuring that no one left her home hungry—a testament to her warmth and generosity. Above all, she cherished the moments spent with her family and friends.
A devout member of Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church in Struthers, Annetta's faith was a guiding force throughout her life.
Annetta is survived by her son, Joseph Carano Jr., and his wife, Judi, with whom she shared her home; her five grandchildren, Elaine (Lee) Hoem, Angela Raybuck and Philip (Tracy) Raybuck all of Cheyenne, WY., Jessica Carano of Struthers and Michael (Claire) Carano of Cuyahoga Falls; eight great-grandchildren, Nathan, Alex, Riley, Zachary, Ariana, Brandon, Tara and Tyler; two great-great-grandchildren, Michael and Adlee; her sisters-in-law, Mary Petruccello and Gina Scudieri; her brother in law, Dominic Carano; her loyal canine companion, Beau, and many extended family members.
Annetta was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Carano, whom she married on June 16, 1949, and who passed away on September 21, 1980. She was also preceded by her daughter, Elda Raybuck; granddaughter, Heather Franks; her twin sister, Maria Giammarco; her brother, Corrado Giammarco; and sister-in-law, Margaret Giammarco.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the funeral home and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church 764 5th St. Struthers.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.

Annetta will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her enduring love, selflessness, and devotion to family and faith.
