Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN - Anna Humeniuk, formerly of Squaw Creek Drive in Girard, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 25, 2018, at her home at The Inn at Christine Valley, with her family by her side just two weeks after her 95th birthday.

Anna, who was affectionately known to all as "Baba," was born April 11, 1923, in Sanok, Prybysziw, Ukraine, a daughter of the late Mike and Eva Sywy Priatka, and came to Youngstown in 1949.

Mrs. Humeniuk was a homemaker who also worked as a cook at the Perkins' Restaurant in McKinley Heights.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown, where she belonged to the  St. Anne Guild. She also volunteered for the parish pyrohy and kolachi fundraisers.

Anna loved flower gardening and cooking, and she passed on ethnic traditions and food recipes to everyone she knew. Anna and her husband also donated clothing to family members in need in Ukraine.

Her husband of 54 years, Harry Humeniuk, whom she married Oct. 11, 1949, passed away Jan. 20, 2004.

Mrs. Humeniuk leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Russell (Linda) Humeniuk of Lebanon, John (Patti) Humeniuk of Boynton Beach, Fla., and William (Beth) Humeniuk of Canfield; a daughter-in-law, Kim Humeniuk of Sylvania; 11 grandchildren, Christopher (Jacque) Humeniuk of Cummings, Ga., David (Jennifer) Humeniuk of San Diego, Erica Humeniuk-Poe of Lithia, Fla., Rebekah (Tom) Shaw of Salem, Sarah Humeniuk of Youngstown, Heather (Dr. Kevin) Reeves of Columbus, Megan (1st Sgt. Fritz) Lowe of Fallbrook, Calif., Matthew Humeniuk of Wadsworth, Anna (Travis) Robinson of Portland, Tenn., Abigail Humeniuk (Lonnie James) of Bradner, and Eli Humeniuk of Sylvania; 14 great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Jacob, Mason, Emily, Ayden, Lorelai, Annalise, Owyn, Finn, Eleri, Lola, Carter, Noah, and Corinne; and a great-grandson "coming soon."

Besides her husband, a son, Dr. Harry Humeniuk; an infant daughter, Anna; three brothers, Dmytro, Nick, and Stefan Priatka; and three sisters, Mary Spynda, and Pearl and Anastasia, preceded Anna in death.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 27, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a prayer service will take place at 4 p.m.

Funeral services will begin Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, and will continue at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, 526 West Rayen Avenue in Youngstown.

Committal services will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown, where Anna will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Memorial contributions may be made in Anna's name to Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church.
