Uhlar
May 27, 1937 – October 4, 2024
AUSTINTOWN - Ann H. Uhlar, 87, passed away Friday October 4, 2024, after a lengthy and brave battle with cancer.
Ann was born May 27, 1937, in Warren, a daughter of the late John and Anna Grec Hornak. She was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Class of 1955 and attended Youngstown University. Ann worked as a driver's license examiner with the Ohio Highway Patrol for many years. Ann's Catholic faith was at the heart of her life. She was a charter member of St. Joseph's Church in Austintown, where she served as a Eucharistic minister, was involved in the Cenacle prayer group, and was a key member of the Ladies Guild. Ann's devotion extended to her role as a Third Order Franciscan and as a member of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary. Her deep spirituality guided her in all aspects of life.
Beyond her faith, Ann was an avid participant in various activities. She was a skilled bowler and golfer and an enthusiastic Bridge player, earning her Life Master's in Bridge in 2002. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of several garden clubs, nurturing both plants and friendships. Her love of travel took her on many adventures, but her heart was always with her family.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Ann is survived by her two children, Michael (Jennifer) Uhlar of Fox Island, Washington, and Andrea (Matt) Keller of Canfield; five beloved grandchildren, Matt, Cassie, and Eric Uhlar, and Kayley and Samuel Keller; her sister Mary Jean Yohman, as well as her niece and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate caregivers at Humility House and Hospice of the Valley, who cared for Ann with love and kindness during her illness.
Family and friends may gather to pay respects from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at St. Joseph Church 4545 New Rd., Austintown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
