YOUNGSTOWN - Anastasia Hrynko Senczyszak, 90, of Old Furnace Road, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, March 7, 2016.
Anastasia was born June 23, 1925, in Stary Sambir, Ukraine, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Kateryna Teodorivna Hrynko. She was married to Yaroslaw Senczyszak on May 17, 1942, in Ukraine and came to America with her husband and daughters in May of 1949.
She was a member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church in Austintown.
She was a homemaker and her wonderful Ukrainian cooking and baking was enjoyed by all who walked through her doors. She was also a talented seamstress. Anastasia was a member of the Ukrainian National Association. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed living close to Mill Creek Park, where she remained active for many years. Anastasia enjoyed singing and reading, both in English and her native Ukrainian. She cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her memory will always be treasured by her loving family.
Anastasia leaves five children, Luba (Edward) Lacusky of Youngstown, Irene Piwtorak of Youngstown, Oksana (Thomas) Creighton of Deerfield, Ill., Zenia (Richard) Nichols of Winfield, Ill., and Gene (Geri Lynn) Senczyszak of Mineral Ridge; four grandchildren, Jon (Kelly) Dominguez of Minneapolis, Minn., Larisa (Thomas) Hull of Youngstown, Adam Senczyszak of Warren, and Nadia Senczyszak of Mineral Ridge; three great-grandchildren, Thomas and Anastasia Hull of Youngstown, and Nikolai Dominguez of Minneapolis; and her beloved companion, Zsa Zsa, her Maltese.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Yaroslaw, and two children, Zenon and Connie Senczyszak, and two brothers are also deceased.
There will be a private service held Wednesday, March 9, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, to be officiated by Rev. Lubomyr Zhybak, pastor of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church.
