AUSTINTOWN - Alan D. Burkholder, Sr., 54, passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 20, 2017, at Hospice House with his family by his side.

Alan was born Sept. 7, 1962, in Youngstown, a son of the late Jack and Deane McElwee Burkholder, and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1980 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and worked as an electronic technician for Chuck-E-Cheese in Boardman for the past 20-plus years.

Alan enjoyed skydiving, shooting pool, and spending time with family and friends.

He leaves his wife, Garnett J. Utsinger Burkholder, whom he married June 17, 1997; his son, Alan D. Burkholder II of Austintown; his daughter, Alison N. (Nicholas) Thompson of Austintown; his brother, Timothy Plahs of Greensburg, Pa; his sister, Linda (Ed) Black-Weiner of Elizabethtown, Ky.; his nieces, Angela Stanley of Garner, North Carolina and Jennifer Black of Texas; and two great-nieces.

Two brothers, Jack Dean Burkholder and Cory K. Burkholder, and a sister, Tami M. Riley, preceded Alan in death.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m.. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a memorial service will follow at 4 pm.

Alan's family suggests that anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution, do so by donating to the funeral home to help with final expenses. "God bless you!"
