Teodora Kopczyk Obituary

BOARDMAN - Teodora Kopczyk, 102, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, June 2, 2018, at her home.

Teodora was born Jan. 21, 1916, in Liskowaty, Western Ukraine, born to the late Ivan and Kateryna Habuda Wasylyszyn, and came to America and Youngstown on May 29, 1951.

Mrs. Kopczyk was a beloved wife and homemaker who worked various jobs outside the home while raising and caring for her family.

Teodora was an active and devoted member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown, where she was a member of the St. Anne Guild. She volunteered for the parish’s pyrohy project and for many other church projects and activities throughout her life.

Mrs. Kopczyk loved gardening and growing vegetables, and she enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden very much. Her passion was her family and she deeply cared for everyone. She loved cooking and always made sure everyone who ate at her table had enough to eat. She also loved to read, particularly Ukrainian poetry and short stories. She would focus on her reading for many hours, and she could recite what she read from memory.

Her beloved husband of 59 years, Michael Kopczyk, whom she married July 28, 1955, passed away Oct. 12, 2014.

Teodora leaves her son, Michael Kopczyk of Boardman; her daughter, Mary (Ben) Morucci of Poland, Ohio; two grandsons, Anthony Morucci and Gary (Karyn) Morucci, both of Poland, Ohio; and six great-grandchildren, Amanda, Jason, Anthony Jr., Alyssa, Benjamin, and Jared Morucci.

Besides her husband, two brothers and three sisters, preceded Teodora in death.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a Panakhyda prayer service will take place at 6:45 p.m.
