VALRICO, FLA. - Rita B. Kelly, 94, formerly of Austintown, passed away Sunday afternoon, Feb. 17, 2019, at Superior Residences of Florida in Brandon after a long and fulfilling life.
Rita was born March 21, 1924, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Charles and Nellie Domikowski Olesky. Rita moved to Youngstown in 1942, and then to Florida 10 years ago.
Mrs. Kelly worked for Truscon Steel during World War II, and was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker who dedicated herself to raising and caring for her family.
Rita was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown, where she belonged to the Senior Citizens and the Altar & Rosary Society. She also bowled in the church’s Ladies Bowling League, and was a member of the Austintown AARP.
Her husband of 41 years, Charles W. Kelly, whom she married March 2, 1946, passed away Nov. 19, 1987.
Rita leaves to cherish her memory her son, Bernard F. Kelly of Youngstown; her daughter, Madeline M. (Richard) Scannell of Valrico, and with whom she made her home; her grandson, Christopher Kelly of Miami, Fla.; and two sisters, Charlotte Zitkovic of Findlay and Sister Hedy Olesky with the Sisters of Notre Dame in Chardon.
Rita will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her husband, a granddaughter, Sara Kelly; four sisters, Anna Tabak, Rose Wozniak, Stella Como, and Madeline Sturgeon; and six brothers, Charles, Stanley, Edward. Louis, and Bernard Olesky, and John Kowalski, are also deceased.
Family and friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 24, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m., Monday, Feb. 25, at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Norquest Boulevard in Austintown.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Rita will be laid to rest next to her husband.
