CANFIELD – Ray E. Bone, 84, peacefully passed away in his home early Thursday morning, June 14, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
The eldest son of six children born to Reno and Luzell Brown Bone, Ray was born in Gadsden, Ala., on April 23, 1934.
He was a proud graduate of Etowah High School in Attala, Ala., and bravely served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1957.
Ray came to the Mahoning Valley after being honorably discharged from the service, and he worked locally for J&L Steel for 31 years.
He married the love of his life, Donna May Moore, in 1958, and from 1983 to the present day, Ray and his wife owned and operated Ray's Auto Sales in Canfield.
He was a faithful man, and was a member of Emmanuel Community Church in Austintown, and he was a former member of Pleasant Valley Evangelical Church in Niles.
Ray is best remembered by his love of fishing, golfing, travel, and playing card and board games.
His memory lives on through his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Donna Bone; their two sons, Edward R. Bone and Kenneth H. Bone; two siblings, Doris Whitten of Alabama and Raymond Lavone Bone of Washington; and six grandchildren, Karl (Felicia) Saltsman, Kerri Saltsman, Kelly (Keith) Kowalczyk, and Monica, Nicole, and Brendon Bone.
Ray will be deeply missed and his memories will be forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William Erskine Bone of Texas; and two sisters, Julia Faye Seahorn and Melba Jean Sexton, each of Alabama.
Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, June 19, at Emmanuel Community Church, 6512 Kirk Rd., Austintown, where funeral services will take place beginning at noon.
Interment with military honors will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Austintown.
