Quintilio Cera Obituary

AUSTINTOWN - Quintilio “Quinn” Cera, 93, passed away late Thursday morning, Sept. 6, 2018, at The Woodlands at AustinWoods following a brief illness.

Quintilio was born June 22, 1925, in Barrea L’Aquila, Italy, a son of the late John and Immaculata D’Amica Cera, and he came to America and Youngstown with his family as a small boy in 1929.

He was a graduate of South High School and was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in Europe during World War II with the 2nd Armored Division and seeing combat in the Battle of the Bulge.

After the war, Quinn went to TV School in Chicago, working in studios and as a cameraman in the early days of television. Mr. Cera later returned to Youngstown and worked at Hills Department Store in the Lincoln Knolls Plaza, retiring in the late 1980s.

Quinn was a member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown.

Quinn leaves his wife of 52 years, Irene “Rena” Sebastiani Cera, whom he married Oct. 9, 1965; two sisters, Ann Markovich of Youngstown and Jeannie Cera of Austintown; and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, Sam Cera, and a sister, Mary Grace Cera, are deceased.

Family and friends may gather Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 10 to 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Road, Austintown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

Committal services with military honors will follow the Mass and will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
