AUSTINTOWN – Pat Lippiello, 60, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 27, 2018, at his home following a brave battle with cancer.
Pat was born Sept. 4, 1957, in Naples, Italy, the son of Umberto and Antonietta Canonico Lippiello, and he came to America with his family when he was nine years old.
Pat graduated from Austintown Fitch High School and then proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps for over 10 years. During his time in the Corps, Pat was stationed overseas in Japan, Korea, The Philippines, the China Seas, and Hawaii, and he was a decorated sharpshooter and rifle expert. Pat was honorably discharged from the service in 1988 with the rank of Staff Sgt.
After his discharge, Mr. Lippiello attended Eastern Kentucky University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in forensic science. He subsequently worked for the Tucson Police Department in Arizona as a criminalist/forensic scientist, and he also worked for the city’s crime laboratory. Pat later worked for the State of Montana in its Forensic Science Division.
Pat was a member of the Tri-State Marine Corps League, and he enjoyed running.
He leaves his mother, Antonietta of Austintown; his wife, Iwona Liebig of Arizona; and a niece and nephew, Jennifer Lynn Jones (Dan) and Sammy Anthony Jones.
His father, Umberto, died in 1989. A sister, Carmela Jones died Nov. 7, 2017.
Family and friends may gather from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown, where Rev. Richard Murphy will officiate a memorial service at 6:30 p.m., with military honors by the Tri-State Marine Corps League to follow.
