Norman Roger Stothard

NORTH LIMA - Norman Roger Stothard, 83, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, Dec. 2, 2018, at Caprice Health Center.

Norm was born Oct. 17, 1935, in Youngstown, a son of Chester and Ruth Anderson Stothard. He was raised in Youngstown, moved to Boardman in 1980, and spent the last 12 years in North Lima.

He was a 1953 graduate of Chaney High School and was a 50-plus year member of Painters Local No. 476, working as a journeyman painter and paper hanger, retiring in 1997.

Norm was a member of St. Jude Church in Columbiana. He enjoyed cabinet-making, gardening, birdwatching, and earned acclaim as a general handyman and “jack-of-all-trades.” His greatest treasures in life were his three daughters, and he truly enjoyed his grandchildren.  

Norman touched the lives of many people. He will always be remembered as a kind, gentle, lovable, and generous man. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Anita Tahos Stothard, whom he married Nov. 19, 1960 at St. Brendan Church in Youngstown; three daughters, Christine (Clark) Morain of Pittsburgh, Pa., Patricia (William) Beard of Columbiana, and Diane Stothard of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Troy, Lauren, John “Jake,” and Jillian; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Rosalie Elaine Galla.

Family and friends may gather from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, at St. Jude Church in Columbiana, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow the Mass, and will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
