Mary M. Volinchak

AUSTINTOWN - Mary M. Volinchak, 88, passed away Tuesday morning, Oct. 10, 2017, at her home.

Mary was born Nov. 22, 1928, in Campbell, a daughter of the late Peter and Inez Wright Poulos, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1948 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and married her husband, Charles, on Nov. 11, 1950. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Mary held many jobs outside the home, including work for Bugaro Grocery Store, S.K. Kresge’s, Richman Brothers Clothing, Northside Hospital, Dr. George H. Dietz, General Foods, Patricia Gail Cosmetics, Jewels by Park Lane, Valentino Realty, and ITT Technical Institute, from where she retired in 1993. During her career, Mary completed schooling in data keypunch operation and also earned a real estate license.

Mrs. Volinchak was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown.

Mary leaves her son, Thomas Volinchak of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Gerald Poulos; and three sisters, Millie Valentino, Doris Cougras, and Patricia Hrusovski.

Mary’s beloved husband of 50 years, Charles W. Volinchak, passed away Dec. 17, 2000. Besides her husband, Mary was preceded by two brothers, Louis and John Poulos, and by a sister, Linda Poulos.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 15, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a prayer service will take place at 5 p.m.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 16, at the funeral home, and will continue at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband.
