RICHMOND, VA. – Mary W. Supko, 102, formerly of Benton Avenue in Austintown, passed away peacefully Monday morning, July 23, 2018, at Beth Sholom Home in Richmond.
Mary was born Oct. 22, 1915, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth Stanna Galik, and lived in this area for most of her life until moving to Richmond to be closer to family in 2011.
Mary worked for Photogenic Machines on McClurg Road in Boardman for many years, and also dedicated her adult life to raising and caring for her family.
Mrs. Supko was a founding member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown, and was a member of its Altar and Rosary Society and Senior Citizens organization. She was also a member of Slovak Catholic Sokols.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Thomas J. (Beverly) Supko of Lexington, Ky., James R. (Joann) Supko of Richmond, Va., Joseph “Buddy” (Patti) Supko of Stafford, Va.; seven grandchildren, Thomas Supko Jr., Joseph Supko Jr, Karen Nelson, Robin Huneycutt, Lisa Supko Parker, Erin Supko Broughan, and Jeffrey Supko; 11 great-grandchildren, Katie, Eric, Kyle, Alex, Declan, Timothy, Gabrielle, Samuel, Jason, Emily, and James; a great-great-grandchild, Cadon; a sister, Betty Krusel of Youngstown; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Her husband, Joseph J. Supko, whom she married June 30, 1936, died Nov. 27, 1976. Besides her husband, a son, Bobby Supko; a grandson, Timothy Supko; three brothers, Michael, Steve, and Valent Galik; and two sisters, Helen and Christina Galik, preceded Mary in death.
Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, July 28, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd., Austintown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband.
