Mary Elizabeth Lariccia

October 4, 1930 ~ May 3, 2019 (age 88)

AUSTINTOWN - Late Friday evening, May 3, 2019, Mary Lariccia, extraordinary wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born Oct. 4,1930, in Steubenville, a daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Coyne Smith.

In her younger days, she loved to dance and especially enjoyed the polka. She was an incredible cook, wonderful wife, and above all, a loving caregiver with a big heart.

Throughout her life, Mary showed compassion, love, and patience to her children, siblings, and grandchildren. She spent her life caring for others and always put her family's needs above her own. Her dinner table was frequently packed with family, friends, and great food. She enjoyed playing cards and while her luck was impressive, her luck in love was unprecedented.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Donald Lariccia Sr., whom she married Nov. 5, 1955; her children, Ellen (Bob) Hudak of Mansfield, Dee (Dave) Kanotz of Canfield, Mary Jo Fedorisin of Austintown, Joel (Irene) Lariccia of Struthers, Mark Lariccia of Youngstown, and La Bieltz of Charleston, S.C..; and 28 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who will carry on Mary’s proud family legacy.

Mary was preceded in death by a son, Donald Lariccia Jr.; sisters, Dorothy Chismark and Janie Smith; and brothers, Thomas Smith, Franklin Smith Jr., and John Smith.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave., Youngstown.

Committal services will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
