Mary Byers Obituary

GIRARD - Mary P. Byers, 79, passed away early Thursday morning, March 28, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital following a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary, who was affectionately known as “Boboo,”  was born Jan. 9, 1940, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Edward and Mary Zagorsky Janis, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mary worked for Workinman’s Uniforms, Brentwood Originals, and for Bargain Port throughout her lifetime, all while raising and caring for her family.

Mrs. Byers was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Youngstown.

Mary’s granddaughters were the highlight of her life and she cherished every moment she spent with them. She greatly enjoyed cooking and baking with her granddaughters, playing cards, spending time with her family, and she enjoyed attending all events her granddaughters were involved in.

Her husband of 48 years, Vernon L. Byers, whom she married July 2, 1960, passed away Aug. 18, 2008.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Cathy (Dave) Rodomsky of Girard; three granddaughters, Lauren Rodomsky (fiancé Chris Scheckelhoff), Caitlyn Rodomsky (fiancé Bill Seidler), and Nicole Rodomsky; five brothers and sisters, Edward (Ella) Janis of Breman, Ga.; George (Donna) Janis of Youngstown, Georgeann Foltz of Boardman, Barbara Burrows of Hubbard, and Gloria (Ralph) Sanchez of Mexico Beach, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, including Don Foltz, whom she enjoyed spending time with.

She will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her husband, a sister, Virginia Boehnline, and a brother, Richard Janis, preceded her in death.
