LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - Marie “ReRe” Ierace, 88, passed away Thursday evening, Oct. 25, 2018, at Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.
Marie was born March 4, 1930, in Girard. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Julia Venzeio Marconi, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a 1948 graduate of Girard High School and worked at the Kresge Department Store and at the J.C. Penney store in the Liberty Plaza. She also worked at Atlantic Mills, and Marie was a co-owner of Sam’s Imported Foods, which was also in the Liberty Plaza.
Mrs. Ierace was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard.
She greatly enjoyed bowling and liked to gamble, especially on slot machines. ReRe’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her family, including her two grandsons, whom she helped raise. Marie recently welcomed a great-grandson, Felix, who became the light of her life.
ReRe leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Paulette Chearno of Liberty Township; two grandsons, Justin (Stacy) Chearno of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Brian Chearno of Liberty Township; a great-grandson, Felix Chearno; a sister, Pauline Franklin of Girard; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Her husband of 57 years, Sam Ierace, whom she married June 11, 1949, passed away Jan. 16, 2007. Besides her husband, a sister, Margaret Brown, is deceased.
Family and friends may call from noon to 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30, at St. Rose Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m.
Committal services will follow the Mass and will be at Girard Union Cemetery, where Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband.
