MCDONALD - Leo S. Bard, 82, passed away Friday morning, Jan. 26, 2018, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren, following a lengthy illness.
Leo was born June 6, 1935, in Steubenville, a son of the late Leo and Catherine Franko Bard, and lived in McDonald for most of his life.
He was a 1953 graduate of McDonald High School and was a veteran of the United States Naval Reserves, honorably discharged in 1960.
Leo worked as an electrician for 27 years at Packard Electric, retiring in 1997.
Mr. Bard was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald.
He greatly enjoyed fishing, gardening, and making things. He designed and built his home and was known as a perfectionist. Leo’s greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Annamae Stewart, whom he married July 21, 1956; a son, Rich (Karen) Bard of Houston; a daughter, Kathy (Joe) Toth of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and four grandchildren, Joey and Amanda Toth of Ft. Wayne, and Tyler and Miranda Bard of Houston.
A brother, Tom Bard, also of McDonald, passed away the same day as Leo. Two sisters, Regina Nichols and Leona Kromer also preceded Leo in death.
Family and friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, and interment will follow at Belmont Park Cemetery in Liberty Township.
Leo’s family would like to thank the 3rd floor nursing and medical staff at St. Joseph Health Center, the staff at Vista at the Ridge, the staff from Hospice of the Valley, and the many family and friends for all of the kindness, care, and support throughout Leo’s illness.
