YOUNGSTOWN - Larry Ernest Ervin, 74, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, July 12, 2018, at Greenbriar Healthcare Center in Boardman.
Larry was born Jan. 16, 1944, in Connellsville, Pa., a son of Robert and Flora Ervin, and came to Youngstown as a child.
He made his home at Turning Point and enjoyed his work at "the workshop," where he was quite social and loved spending time with his many friends.
Larry was known as "Jim," "Big Dog," or "Ernie" to his big brothers, and as "Bobby," "Mick," and "Uncle Larry" to his beloved nieces and nephews. A call or visit with Larry was always a fun way to catch up on the best family news.
In his youth, Larry was a master of mash-up mix tapes and enjoyed sharing music with others. He was great at coming up with funny lyrics on a whim. If one wanted to swap a CD, Larry was always ready to trade and was interested in discussing what sort of music people enjoyed, but there would be a long wait for the CD he promised to make.
He is survived by his guardian and brother, Mick (Marilyn) Ervin of Youngstown; a brother, Robert (Patricia) Ervin of New Middletown; nieces, Jennifer (TJ) Hosa and Wendy Ervin; and nephews, John Ervin, Michael (Katie) Ervin, and Keith (Jamie) Ervin.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
A private graveside memorial service will take place at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
