Kathryn Kurylak Prystash

YOUNGSTOWN - Kathryn Prystash, 86, passed away peacefully early Monday evening, Oct. 29, 2018, at her niece’s home in Warren with her family by her side.

Kathryn, who was known to her family as “Aunt Kitty” was born Nov. 21, 1931, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Peter and Anne Lawryk Kurylak, and she lived her life in this area.

Kathryn was a 1950 graduate of Chaney High School, and worked various jobs in the area throughout her life.

She was of the Orthodox faith.

Mrs. Prystash loved to listen to all types of music, and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed animals, and had a deep love for her cats. She found comfort in her cats and loved taking care of them. Kathryn also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Cavaliers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Cleveland Indians.

She leaves two sisters, Patricia Kopko of Austintown and Nancy Rohm of Columbus; a niece, Mary Beadle; a great-niece, Carrington Cain, a great-nephew, Jay Taylor Beadle; great-great nieces, Ryelee and Ryeine Cain, and Harlow Beadle; and many extended family members.

Family was everything to Kathryn. She would always say, "Family is all we have!" All who loved her knew of her faith in family, and she will be deeply missed.

Her husband, Michael Prystash, whom she married in 1990, passed away May 30, 2015.
A brother, John Kurylak; and two sisters, Rosie Mercuio and Barbara Rocco, are also deceased.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a memorial service will take place at 6:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Kathryn’s family requests memorial contributions be made in her name to Angels for Animals; or to Santa's Hideaway Hollow, c/o Donna Crean, DC Dancers.
