GIRARD - Judith Lee Bakos, 73, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 9, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital following a long and courageous battle with Scleroderma.
Judith, known to all as “Judy,” was born Jan. 25, 1946, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Rosemary Carson Christopher, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a 1964 graduate of Girard High School and owned and operated Judith Lee Styling Salon in Girard for 40 years.
Mrs. Bakos was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard.
She enjoyed cooking and watching QVC and the Food Network on television. Judy also enjoyed baking Christmas cookies, visiting casinos, and she especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family.
Judy leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 49 years, Richard Bakos, whom she married in October of 1969; three children, Julie (Brian) Mlinarsik of Canfield, Richard Bakos Jr. of Columbus, and Jody Bakos of Girard; two grandchildren, Jayce and Cain; a sister, Diane Alejars of Girard; and a brother, Joe (Cindy) Christopher of Girard.
Mrs. Bakos will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., in Girard, where a prayer service will take place at 2 p.m.
Private interment will be at Girard Union Cemetery.
The Bakos family would like to thank Dr. Richard Marina and the nurses at St. Elizabeth Hospital for the kindness shown and care given to Judy during her time there.
