YOUNGSTOWN – Jude T. “Jay” Shaughnessy, 52, of the city’s west side, passed away suddenly Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at his home after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Jude, who was known to many as “Jay,” was born Dec. 3, 1965, in Youngstown, a son of the late Joseph and Marilyn Davis Shaughnessy, and lived most of his life in Youngstown.
He was a 1985 graduate of Chaney High School and was a self-employed plumber by trade who was dedicated to his profession.
Jay was a member of Crossroads Church in Austintown. He was a caring person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, and he was very proud of his children.
Jay leaves four children, Melinda (Michael) Bradley of Leavittsburg, Jordan Shaughnessy (fiancé Kali) of Youngstown, Jeremy Shaughnessy of Austintown, and Justin Shaughnessy of Austintown; three grandchildren, Liberty, Karson, and Delaney; five brothers, Joseph Shaughnessy of Pleasanton, Calif., John (Cheryl) Shaughnessy of Spring, Texas, James (Betty) Shaughnessy of Youngstown, Jeff (Colleen) Shaughnessy of Canfield, and Jerry Shaughnessy of Youngstown; two sisters, Maureen Shaughnessy (Dean Leather) of Shore Acres, Texas and Marilyn Shaughnessy of Cypress, Texas; his stepmother, Bonnie Shaughnessy of Tampa, Fla.; a stepbrother, Kent Mogg of Tampa; an uncle, John Howard Davis of Ocean City, Md.; and his former wife, Kelly Shaughnessy of Austintown.
Besides his parents, a stepbrother, Tyler Mogg, is deceased.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life that will take place at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Crossroads Church, 554 S. Meridian Rd., on the Austintown side of the street.
Committal will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
In lieu of flowers, Jay’s family suggests that contributions be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
