GIRARD - Josephine Cataffa, 75, passed away Tuesday afternoon Oct. 16, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Josephine was born April 12, 1943, in Sparanise, Italy, a daughter of the late Joseph and Carmela Ranucci Sorvillo, and came to the United States and the Youngstown area with her family at the age of 11 in 1954.
She was a 1962 graduate of The Rayen School, and worked at Fazio’s where she met her husband. Most recently, Mrs. Cataffa worked at Farmer’s National Bank in Girard.
Josephine was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard. She greatly enjoyed cooking, playing card games with her family, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 51 years, Richard Cataffa, whom she married in June of 1967; four children, Rick (Valerie) Cataffa of Reisterstown, Md., Scott (Vincent Fecteau) Cataffa of San Francisco, Jeff Cataffa of Cleveland, and Sherri (Steve) Schultz of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Ricky, Bennett, and Holden Cataffa, and Delaney Schultz; three sisters, Mary Currao of Struthers, Delores Valentino of Poland, and Elisa Ziccardi of New Middletown; a brother, Angelo (Donna) Sorvillo of Stow; sisters-in-law, Gloria Raimondi of Orlando, Fla. and Clara Sorvillo of Austintown; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Josephine will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Two brothers, Daniel and John Sorvillo, and brothers-in-law, Tony Currao, Patrick Valentino Sr., and John Ziccardi Sr., preceded Josephine in death.
Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 20, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S State St., Girard.
Funeral services will begin at noon on Saturday at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m at St Rose Church, 48 E Main St., Girard.
Committal services will follow the Mass and will take place at Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.
