YOUNGSTOWN - Joseph M. Kearney, 64, passed away early Sunday morning, Dec. 30, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with his family by his side.
Joseph was born Oct. 5, 1954, in Youngstown, a son of the late Donald and Viola DiNoble Kearney, and he lived his life in this area.
He was a 1972 graduate of Chaney High School and in his younger days worked for Idora Park and for Mill Creek Park. More recently, Mr. Kearney was a heavy equipment operator for Bales Davis Excavating, for Murray Excavating, and for R.T. Vernal Excavating, from where he retired in 2016.
Joe was a member of St. Christine Church in Youngstown. He was a fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and of The Ohio State Buckeyes. Joe loved spending time with his family, and he especially liked watching his daughter play softball. He also enjoyed the time he spent with his friends at the Evergreens and at the South Side Civics.
Joseph leaves his wife, Linda M. Colaluca Kearney, whom he married Nov. 29, 1994; his daughter, Angela Kearney at home; a sister, Donna Kearney of Boardman; a brother-in-law, Arthur Murray; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Sparkle.
A sister, Kathleen Murray, is deceased.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, at the funeral home, and will continue at 11 a.m. at St. Christine Church on South Schenley Avenue in Youngstown.
