AUSTINTOWN - Joann F. Hamner, 65, passed away early Wednesday evening, July 4, 2018, at Vista at The Ridge in Mineral Ridge.
Joann was born Dec. 23, 1952, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Jessie Smith DeLisio, and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Hamner was a 1971 graduate of Chaney High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Kent State University.
She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Brecksville VA Hospital, and she worked at Northside Medical Center in Youngstown, retiring in 2005.
Joann was a member of West Austintown United Methodist Church, and she was an avid quilter.
Mrs. Hamner was a truly wonderful and awesome wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma, and she will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joann is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert Hamner, whom she married Sept. 18, 1971; two sons, Robert Hamner of Struthers and Kevin (Bobbi) Hamner of Lordstown; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Wendy Miller of Ona, W.Va.; a brother, Joseph (Cassie) DeLisio of Michigan; a sister, Jessie (Steve) Haldi of Austintown; and many extended family members.
Besides her parents, a grandson; a brother, Jeff DeLisio; and a sister, Jill Dressel, are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, July 9, at West Austintown United Methodist Church, 6749 Mahoning Ave. in Austintown, where a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, Joann’s family asks that memorial contributions be made to the donor’s favorite charity, in her name.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
