Irene R. Dickson

CORTLAND - Irene R. Dickson, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, May 16, 2018, at her home.

Irene was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Follansbee, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Matthew and Rose Rigo. She was a 1943 graduate of Follansbee High School, and moved to Warren after graduation.

Irene later moved to North Carolina where she worked for Baxter Pharmaceutical, retiring after 20 years, and she returned to Girard in 1991.

Mrs. Dickson was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Girard and in Ashtabula.

She loved working jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family. Irene especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

Irene’s husband, John “Jack” Dickson, whom she married in 1945, passed away in 1984.

Mrs. Dickson leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Gerald (Nancy) Dickson of Cortland, Richard (Shelia) Dickson of West Virginia, and Paul (Debbie) Dickson of Howland; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Linda Dickson of Warren and Lynette Dickson of Ashtabula; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Besides her husband, two sons, Dexter and Thomas Dickson, preceded Irene in death.

Per Irene’s request, there will be no calling hours or services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard.
