YOUNGSTOWN - Gloria Rubbo, 95, of the city’s Kirkmere area, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, Dec. 31, 2018, at Windsor House at Parkside Health Care Center in Columbiana.
Gloria was born June 14, 1923, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Nicola and Assunta Leone Rubbo. She was raised on the city’s east side, was a graduate of East High School, and was a lifelong Youngstown resident.
She attended Youngstown College for two years, and was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Gloria was a bookkeeper, working for the Public Market in downtown Youngstown, for the Mural Room, and for 30 years for St. Elizabeth Hospital, retiring in the late 1980s.
Gloria was a member of St. Christine Church in Youngstown.
She leaves many nieces and nephews, who affectionately called her “Aunt Jean.”
Four sisters, Elia Malley, Alba Osso, Irene Rubbo, and Viola Bosela, and three brothers, Mario, Theodore, and Roland Rubbo, preceded Gloria in death.
Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Committal services will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown.
