Gertrude Gora

BOARDMAN TWP. - Gertrude Gora, 92, passed away early Friday morning, May 11, 2018, at Briarfield Manor in Austintown.

Gertrude was born Aug. 4, 1925, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late John and Victoria Trybus Swierz, and she was a 1943 graduate of South High School and a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Gora was a homemaker and a member of St. Stanislaus Church in Youngstown. She loved going on bus trips to Mountaineer Race Track & Casino in West Virginia, and she loved watching her grandson play baseball.

Mrs. Gora leaves to cherish her memory two sons, John (Rhonda) Gora of Austintown and Robert Gora, with whom she shared her home; her grandson, J.W.; several nieces and nephews; and many extended family members.

Her husband of 49 years, John Gora Sr., whom she married May 6, 1950, passed away Nov. 19, 1999. Besides her husband, two daughters, Theresa and Patricia Gora; four brothers, Stanley, Edward, John, and Joseph Swierz; and three sisters, Frances Kicos, Clara Ferenchak, and Adele Pavel, preceded her in death.

Gert’s family sends special thanks to nieces Vickie Laczo and Jackie Mazzocca, along with special friend, Linda Biondillo, for the wonderful attention and loving care given to Gertrude over the years, and especially after the death of Gert’s daughter, Patricia. Their kindness will always be remembered. Mrs. Gora’s family also thanks Dr. David Rich for his exceptional care of Gertrude over the many years.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, May 14, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Avenue in Youngstown.

Committal services will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Gertrude will be laid to rest next to her husband.
