Georgia M. Smith

January 1, 1948 ~ May 23, 2018 (age 70)

YOUNGSTOWN – Georgia M. Smith, 70, of the city’s west side, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, May 23, 2018, at her home.

Georgia was born on New Year’s Day in 1948, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late John and Anna Sciranko Ragan, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1965 graduate of Chaney High School, and became a homemaker who dedicated her adult life to raising and caring for her family. Outside the home, Georgia worked for Sears and for Mitzi’s Café. In more recent years, she lovingly transported family members wherever they needed to go.

Georgia was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Youngstown.

She enjoyed bowling, and was the treasurer and president of the Thursday Night Ladies League at Wedgewood Lanes, where she bowled for Snovak Floor Covering.

Georgia leaves to cherish her memory three children, Frank Tomasino of Youngstown, Brenda Ann (Mike) Moore of Austintown, and Stanley E. Smith III of Austintown; five grandchildren, Kyle (Brianne) Baumgartner, Dustin Baumgartner, Michael Moore, Isaac Smith, and Cruz Smith; a sister, Anna Marie Allison of Youngstown; many nieces and nephews, who were very close to her; and her roommate, Ron Coppola, with whom she shared her home.

Georgia will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her, and will always be remembered by her family for putting others before herself.

A sister, Theresa Jean Tomasino, and her former husband, Stanley E. Smith Jr., preceded Georgia in death.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., in Youngstown, where a prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m.

Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, at the funeral home, and will continue at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church on South Belle Vista Avenue, Youngstown.

Interment will follow at the parish cemetery on South Schenley Avenue in Youngstown.
