Frank Blanco Obituary

BOARDMAN - Frank G. Blanco, 83, passed away early Saturday morning, Nov. 24, 2018, at his home.

Frank was born March 12, 1935, in Youngstown, a son of the late Philip and Mary Blanco, and was a lifelong area resident.

He attended Ursuline High School, and worked for Davey Tree Company and then for the Wm. B. Pollock Co. for 18 years. He spent his retirement years delivering flowers for DeRamo’s Florist and working alongside his oldest son, Phil.

Frank was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, St. Matthias Church in Youngstown. He enjoyed taking pictures, posting on Facebook, and telling jokes. He loved the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, and Notre Dame, but not as much as he loved his grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed by his wife and “best friend” of 63 years, the former Rochelle “Rocky” M. Shodd, whom he married May 7, 1955. He also leaves his son, Phil (Sue) Blanco of Poland; his daughter, Donna (John) Bockla of Youngstown, and his son, Chris (Ashley) Blanco of Mayfield Heights; two sisters, Dolores Farinelli and Patricia (Dave) Gonion; grandchildren, Kim, Angela, Alex, Ron, Grace, Nick, Jack, Owen, and Conner; great-grandchildren, Colton, Declan, Evan, and Camryn; and his puppy dog,  Mollee

Besides his parents, a sister, Terry, and a son, Bob, preceded him in death.

Family and friends may gather from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, at St. Matthias Church in Youngstown, and are invited to attend Frank’s Memorial Service which will take place at 11 a.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

In lieu of flowers, Frank’s family requests that contributions be made to Angels for Animals.
