GIRARD - Eugene E. Wilson, 84, passed away Sunday morning June 10, 2018, at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland.
Eugene was born Jan. 8, 1934, in Youngstown, a son of the late Charles and Beulah May Wilson, and was a lifelong area resident.
Gene proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and worked on the railroad for GTAX for 22 years.
He greatly loved gardening, playing poker, and enjoyed spending time with his family. His greatest joy was the time he spent playing with his grandchildren.
Eugene leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Sheehan Wilson, whom he married in June of 1969; five children, David Grubbs of Florida, Mickey (Rose) Grubbs of Austintown, Beth Soper of Nashville, James Lee (Andreen) Wilson of Girard, and Barbara Ann Wilson of Girard; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Gene will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, two daughters, Eugenia E. Wilson and Brenda S. Wilson; three sons, Charles E. Wilson, Rusty Wilson, and “Little One” Wilson; and several brothers and sisters, preceded Eugene in death.
Family and friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m., Friday, June 15, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard, where funeral services will be at 5:30 p.m.
Interment with military honors will take place at Girard Union Cemetery on Saturday, June 16, at 9 a.m.
