BOARDMAN - Emma Bleggi, 93, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, Dec. 7, 2018, at Hospice House.
Emma was born May 7, 1925, in Brockway, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Pacifico and Julia Phillippi Bleggi.
She was a 1943 graduate of Cowanshannock Township High School in Sagamore, Pa., and was a 1946 graduate of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. Emma became a registered nurse, working at Mercy Hospital from 1946 to 1949, and then for Kittanning Hospital from 1949 to 1953. After Emma came to Youngstown in 1953, she worked for Northside Hospital in Youngstown until her retirement in 1990. Emma also worked for a private practice physician in Youngstown for a time.
She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Holy Name of Jesus Church in Youngstown. Emma also belonged to the Youngstown Council of Catholic Nurses and to the Retired Registered Nurses organization.
Emma leaves her sister, Ada Bleggi of Boardman; a brother, Aldo (Barbara) Bleggi of Sebring, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Savina Bleggi of Poland; five nephews; a niece; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A brother, Louis Bleggi, preceded Emma in death.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
Services will begin at 9:15 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Holy Name of Jesus Church in Youngstown.
Committal services will follow the Mass, and will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
Memorial contributions may be made in Emma’s name to Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Holy Name of Jesus Church.
