YOUNGSTOWN - Elizabeth Yola “Liz” Celio, 93, passed away early Monday evening, Sept. 24, 2018, at Meridian Arms Living Center in Austintown with family by her side.
Elizabeth was born Feb. 11, 1925, in Genoa, Italy, a daughter of the late Samuel and Elisa Pussini Fiumara, and came to America and Youngstown with her family as a child.
She worked for Weatherbee Raincoats before her marriage, then became a homemaker who lovingly raised and cared for her family for the remainder of her life.
Mrs. Celio was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown, and belonged to its Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed painting and ceramics, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her husband of 69 years, Eugene P. Celio, whom she married May 7, 1947, passed away Oct. 13, 2016.
Liz leaves two sons, Frank Celio of Columbus and Eugene P. Jr. (Mary Beth) Celio of Youngstown; nine grandchildren, Dominic (Flo) Celio, Tony Celio, Marcus (Katy) Celio, Elisa (Jason) Clever, Daniel Celio, Matthew (Liz) Celio, Bernadette (Erik) Quinones, Bridgette Celio, and Nicholas Celio; seven great-grandchildren, Liam, Isis, Eleanor, Arwen, Julian, Remy, and Nicola; and a sister, Vicky Murphy of Poland.
Besides her husband, three brothers, Tony, Louis, and Samuel, are deceased.
Family and friends may call from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home, and will continue at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave, Youngstown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m.
Committal services will follow the Mass, and will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
Memorial contributions may be made in Liz’s name to St. Brendan Church, or to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
