AUSTINTOWN - Dorothy S. Schatzel, 93, passed away late Thursday morning, July 12, 2018, at her home at Humility House.
Dorothy was born Feb. 4, 1925, in Warren, a daughter of the late Leo and Edith Stein Schatzel, and lived most of her life in Trumbull County.
She was a 1943 graduate of Warren Harding High School, and worked for the Van Huffel Tube Company in Warren for 40 years, from 1946 to 1985. She then worked for the SCOPE Senior Center in Warren from 1985 until the mid-1990s, and she moved to Youngstown in 2008.
Dorothy was a member of St. Christine Church in Youngstown, and was a former member of St. James Church in Warren, where she had been a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Warren Music Club, the National Council of Catholic Women, the American Professional Business Women Association, and of the Catholic Daughters of America, Bishop McFadden Court No. 1650.
She leaves her sister, Jean Puhalla of Austintown, and many nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Robert and Donald Schatzel, are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, July 16, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road in Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, July 17 at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with a Mass of a Christian Burial to follow at noon at St. Christine Church on South Schenley Avenue in Youngstown.
Dorothy’s family thanks the staff at Humility House for the kindness shown and care given to Dorothy during her stay.
