LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - Dorothy Irene Hall, 92, passed away Monday evening, Feb. 25, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was born Aug. 21, 1926, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Charles and Blanche Green Boles, and was a lifelong area resident.
Dorothy worked at both Northside Medical Center and at Trumbull Memorial Hospital for a short time, and later worked at Packard Electric, from where she retired.
She greatly enjoyed knitting and sewing, and made a beautiful blanket for each of her grandchildren, which she proudly watched them enjoy. Dorothy was known for her witty charm and infectious smile, which was only matched by her boundless energy.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory two children, Paul (Mary) Gerthung of Girard and D.J. (Phil) Thorstenson of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, David Reed of Hubbard; a daughter-in-law, Mary Gerthung of New Philadelphia; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Dorothy will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Gayle Reed; a son Clarence Gerthung Jr.; her first husband, Clarence Gerthung Sr.; her second husband, Lindsey Hall; four brothers; and a sister.
Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, March 1, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard, where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at Champion Center Cemetery, where Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her husband, Lindsey.
