Dorothy M. DeMars

BAY VILLAGE - Dorothy M. DeMars, 97, formerly of North Hazelwood Avenue on Youngstown’s west side, passed away Christmas Eve morning, Dec. 24, 2018, at her home at O’Neill Healthcare, following a long and fulfilling life.

Dorothy was born May 22, 1921, in Vienna Township, and was a daughter of the late George A. and Lola G. Conn Miller. Dorothy lived most of her life in this area, and lived for the past four years at O’Neill Healthcare in Bay Village.

Mrs. DeMars was a wife, mother, and homemaker who also worked as a hairdresser in her younger days.

She was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown.

Dorothy leaves two sons, Louis A. (Beverly) DeMars of Roslyn, Pa. and Gary T. (Debbie) DeMars of Westlake; a daughter, Henrietta “Honey” (James) Burnworth of Austintown; five grandchildren, Shelly (Peter) Murphy, Andrew DeMars, Eric Burnworth, Kevin (Lisa) Burnworth, and Ashley (Fred) Wiseman; and eight great-grandchildren.

Her husband of 69 years, Louis A. DeMars, whom she married May 25, 1941, passed away Jan. 7, 2011. A daughter, Dorothy Ann DeMars and five brothers and sisters are also deceased.

Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., Youngstown.

Committal services will take place after the Mass, and will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown, where Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her husband and daughter.
