AUSTINTOWN- Donna J. Tanferno, 84, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, Mother's Day, May 12, 2019, at her home at The Inn at Poland Way.
Donna was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Paul and Margaret Yohman, and was a lifelong area resident
She was a graduate of Chaney High School and attended Youngstown College for a time before marrying and becoming a wife and homemaker. Donna also worked outside the home for Ohio Edison, retiring in the late 1990s after 15 years of service.
Mrs. Tanferno was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown, and of the Saxon Club, where she played bocce with her husband, and she was a board member of the Penn Power Credit Union. Donna enjoyed crafts, traveling, and she loved to entertain her family and friends.
Her husband of 56 years, James V. Tanferno, Jr., whom she married Sept. 10, 1955, passed away Dec. 7, 2011.
Donna leaves three sons, Robert (Cheryl) Tanferno of Texas, Richard (Melissa) Tanferno of Davidson, N.C., and Ronald Tanferno of Orlando; a daughter, Diane Lefoer of Poland; six grandchildren, Christopher Tanferno, Connor Tanferno, Leah (Chris) Fry, Alexis Tanferno, Tyler Lefoer, and Lauren (Barret) Piller; and three great-grandchildren, Bennett, Brenna, and Bianca.
Besides her husband, a great-granddaughter, Blakely, and a brother, Paul Yohman, are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17, at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., Youngstown.
Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown, where Donna will be laid to rest next to her husband.
