YOUNGSTOWN - Dolores L. Bolotenny Griffiths, 72, passed away peacefully early Thursday afternoon, May 16, 2019, at Select Specialty Hospital in Boardman with family by her side.
Dolores, who was known to many as “Dee,” was born July 11, 1946, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Henry and Olga DiPaulo DiRienzo, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a 1964 graduate of East High School and was a wife, mother, and homemaker. She also worked outside the home as a cook at many area restaurants and for two assisted living homes.
A devout Christian, Dee was a member of Bethel Friends Church in Poland. She valued family traditions, and cooking with and for her family. She instilled the same appreciation of those values and traditions in her children and the friends of her children, many who also call her “Mom” even now in their adulthood. Dee did not take for granted the time she spent with family and friends, and her loving spirit impacted so many. She also loved attending chair yoga with her sister, Carol.
Dolores leaves four children, Bo Bolotenny Jr. of Howland, Lisa Bolotenny of Youngstown, Jodie (Jamie) Guy of Poland, and Michael Bolotenny of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Nicholas Bolotenny and Joshua Guy; a sister, Carol Daichendt of Newton Falls; a sister-in-law, Clara J. DiRienzo; an uncle, Salvatore DiPaulo; three cousins, Lucy, Leo, and Mary Ann; a niece; six nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and her kitty, Benji.
A sister, Mary DiRienzo, and two brothers, Archie and Tony DiRienzo, preceded her in death.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 20, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, and may call from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, also at the funeral home, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.
Dee’s family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, through www.stjude.org; or by calling (800) 805-5856.
