NORTH LIMA - David J. Metlicka, 72, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 2, 2018, at Ivy Woods Manor.
David was born Jan. 28, 1946, in Warren, a son of the late James and Elsie Metlicka, and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Metlicka worked at J&L Steel up until the mill closed. He enjoyed woodworking, model airplanes, and watching western movies, especially those starring John Wayne.
David leaves three sons, David G. (Samantha) Metlicka of Niles, Gary A. (Leyanne) Metlicka of Lorain, and Gilbert L. Metlicka of Cleveland; eight grandchildren, Katelyn, Ashley, Hailey, Tyler, Leah, Kayse, Chris, and Jordan; three great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Travis Jr., and Braxton; two sisters, Laura (Raymond) Oaks of New York and Lillie Stack of Virginia; and his former wife, Ethyl Chatfield of Warren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Wendy and Lisa Metlicka, and by siblings, Thomas Metlicka, Elizabeth Chambers, Virginia “Cookie” Tompkins, Marc Metlicka, and Charles Metlicka.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 7, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a memorial service will follow at 3 p.m.
