Carl Smith

AUSTINTOWN - Carl Smith, 80, passed away early Monday morning, May 22, 2017, at Briarfield Manor, following a brief illness.

Carl was born July 28, 1936, in Warren, a son of the late John S. and Margaret Townsend Smith, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Smith attended Chaney High School, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for General Motors at the Lordstown Plant for over 20 years, retiring in 2001.

Carl was an active member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, and was also a member of American Legion Post No. 301, both in Austintown.

Carl enjoyed bingo, bowling, visiting casinos, and dancing with Angie.
 
He leaves his beloved fiancé, Angie Fetchet of Youngstown, her family, and a brother, Edward Smith of Youngstown. 

Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Alma, who passed away in 1996, and a brother, John Smith.

Family and friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 26, at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, on the northeast corner of Kirk and Raccoon Roads in Austintown, where funeral services will take place at 11:30 a.m., followed by military honors.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
