Anne Adovasio

GIRARD – Anne Adovasio, 89, passed away Friday evening, July 28, 2017, at Heritage Manor, following a brief illness.

Anne was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late John and Magdalen Melko, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Adovasio dedicated her adult life to raising and caring for her family, and later worked for Dollar Bank for 10 years.

She was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard.

Anne loved to read, play bingo, and listen and dance to polka music. Her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Louis C. Adovasio, whom she married Oct. 20, 1951, passed away Dec. 28, 1999.
Mrs. Adovasio leaves to cherish her memory eight children, Ellen Adovasio of Girard, William D. (Anna Marie) Adovasio of Hubbard, Mark (Rosemary Bruno) Adovasio of Austintown, Michael Adovasio of Girard, Louis J. Adovasio of Girard, Linda Adovasio of Niles, Susan Adovasio of Warren, and Patricia (Christopher) Streamo of Niles, two grandchildren, Laura (Jeremy) Elliott of Girard and William L. Adovasio of Hubbard; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Collin Elliott.

Besides her husband, two sons, Robert and Charles Adovasio; a brother, John Melko; and a sister, Mary Durrett, preceded Anne in death.

Per Anne’s request, there are no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 1 p.m., at St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main Street, in Girard.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown, where Anne will be laid to rest next to her husband and sons.

Anne’s family thanks Dr. Bruce Willner, and the staff of Heritage Manor and Hospice of the Valley, for the excellent care and compassion provided to Anne and her family during her illness.

In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Adovasio’s family request memorial contributions be made to the Emmanuel Community Care Center, 2 N. State St., Girard, OH 44420; or to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH 44512.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., in Girard.
