YOUNGSTOWN – Alicia Lynn Brdek, 68, of the city’s westside, passed away early Tuesday evening, Nov. 13, 2018, at Humility House in Austintown after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Alicia was born Aug. 30, 1950, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Mason Sherman and Doris Leonhart Dyer, and was a lifelong Ohio resident.
She was a 1968 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, and was a homemaker who worked various jobs outside the home, including at Kmart in Austintown and at RGIS Inventories.
Mrs. Brdek was a lifelong member of Austintown Community Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and spending time with her family.
Alicia leaves her husband of 44 years, George J. Brdek, whom she married Aug. 17, 1974; four children, Samantha F. Brdek-Slocum (Andrew) of Ann Arbor, Mich., George J. Jr. (Marie) Brdek of Austintown, Andrea Virginia Brdek (Aaron Jenson) of Madison, Wisc., and Cassandra J. Brdek of Moline, Ill.; four grandchildren, Adam M. Brdek, Brooke A. Brdek, Joseph T. Slocum, and Evelyn M. Slocum; and four siblings, John (Josephine) Dyer of Lordstown, David (Linda) Dyer of Virginia Beach, Dennis (Edys) Dyer of Berlin Center, and Susan (Art) Cargil of Struthers.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd. Youngstown.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made in Alicia’s name to the Alzheimer Association.
